Preventative and supportive psychological counselling, psycho-education, screening and basic intervention within a defined scope of practice.

What they cannot do
- Cannot diagnose.
- Does not provide long-term psychotherapy for serious mental illness, refers on where a presentation falls outside scope.
- Cannot prescribe medication, that is a psychiatrist or medical doctor.

Counselling Psychologist
A Counselling Psychologist has a longer training pathway and can work with more complex presentations. A Registered Counsellor is often more affordable and more readily available.
